Nearly 2,000 of you answered our app survey. Here's what you told us — and exactly how we're building DudesChat around it.
A couple of weeks ago, we threw a pretty straightforward question out there: how would you feel about a dedicated app?
Nearly 2,000 of you shot back, and hundreds left genuinely thoughtful essays in the comment box. And yes, we actually read every single one. If you took the time to tell us what you think, consider this post our way of saying: we hear you, loud and clear.
The headline is glaring: most of you are down for it. More than three quarters gave us the green light — either "I'm in" or "I'll give it a spin."
But the comments were where the real gold was. Over and over, in a hundred different ways, you told us the same thing: don't lose what makes this place what it is. You don't want another soul-sucking, generic hookup app. You don't want a wall of spammy ads or a mystery algorithm deciding who you're "allowed" to see today. You want the place you already love, made way easier to reach from your phone.
That's the design brief. Here's exactly how we're building DudesChat around it.
Let's be clear: this is a proper, built-from-scratch app — not the website awkwardly squeezed onto a small screen. But it's the same community you already belong to. One login, whether you're at your desk or on the train.
And for those of you who've been part of this crew for a decade or two: don't panic. Nothing you've built goes away. It travels with you.
When we looked at which features you cared about most, one answer blew the rest away: knowing who's nearby. So yes — a location grid is core. We call it Discover.
But a mindless grid of faces isn't our style. What's always set this community apart is that people here actually express themselves — you're open about who you are, what you're into, and what kind of mood you're in today. So DudesChat is built around three pillars working together:
That's the secret sauce: it's not just who's close, it's who's close and on your wavelength.
Two concerns came up again and again, and we've built specifically to tackle both.
Privacy. Your precise location is blurred before it ever leaves your phone. People see your general distance; nobody gets your coordinates. We're also baking in a travel mode and a pause-location toggle for the days you want to go off the grid.
Real people. We've all watched other platforms rot into ghost towns of bots, fakes and crypto-scammers. You told us plainly: not here. So every new member passes a quick reality check before they're in. A little friction up front keeps the neighbourhood worth living in.
DudesChat is an expansion pack, not a replacement. DudesNude carries on exactly as it is — the late-night door, adults only, no pretense. Think of DudesChat as a second front door on the same house: the daylight one, pants on, curtains open. Use whichever you prefer. Or both.
We're sharing this blueprint now, while the cement is still wet, on purpose. Your feedback has already made this ten times better, and we'll keep pulling back the curtain as things take shape.
Genuinely — thank you for the surveys, the feedback, and for sticking around.
The three-tier content model — Daylight public, Adult opt-in, Explicit elsewhere — lets us ship on iOS without pretending the community isn't what it is.
